Diamond slump pushes Botswana to weakest credit rating since 2001

The downgrade comes despite signs of economic recovery. Botswana’s economy expanded 8.2 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, rebounding from a revised 5.2 percent contraction in the previous quarter, according to the Central Statistics Office.
